Babus take charge of Hyderabad's roads
Hyderabad: Top officials of the GHMC has taken up adoption of arterial stretches of roads that connect the west zone. As many as important roads have been identified for the purpose, of which 26 roads have been adopted in the first phase, Up to 75 km of road would be looked after personally and managed by these officials.
The idea was conceived after a recent meeting with minister K.T. Rama Rao. “We came up with this idea, because it is impossible to do up all the roads at the same time,” said Ms D. Hari Chandana, West Zone commissioner. She said contractors would not be able to take the load.
“It’s a long term project,” said Mr T. Dashrath, deputy commissioner, Kukatpally. The roads from Hitex to Kondapur (2 km); Gachibowli flyover to Dargah (4 km); BHEL Junction to Patancheru (5 km); Y junction to Hydernagar (6.4 km); JNTU to RoB (4.7 km); Ferozeguda to Kukatpally Y-junction (3.5 km).
