Visakhapatnam: Bhanoji Colony changes with times

A sleepy colony till 1990s, the huts gave way to buildings.

Visakhapatnam: Located near Rednam Gardens, the Bhanoji Nagar colony is a fine example of how even a nondescript colony would attain a certain degree of development due to its proximity to the city.

The colony has been certainly getting a facelift and the transformation is quite visible from once derelict houses to now multi-storied buildings. And the residents, who have been part and spectators of the steady transformation of the colony, pointed out to the development with a great pride. The colony, which falls into the 19th ward of the city, is a now a mix of old and new residents as many outsiders thronged the colony within the recent times.

M. Subhadhra, whose family has been living in the colony since her grandfather’s time, explained how the amenities added to the colony over the years. “A sleepy colony till 1990s, the huts gave way to buildings.”
