BENGALURU: A 20-year-old BA student, who had gone to her boyfriend’s house to celebrate his birthday, committed suicide after a fight with him in Kodigehalli in Kadugodi police limits on Saturday. Upset over her death, the boyfriend too attempted for suicide by consuming poison.
The deceased, Sunanda, was a resident of Saadaramangala and was a student at K. R. Puram Government College. Her boyfriend, Saidrav, 26, is a resident of HAL. He completed graduation recently and searching for a job. He has been hospitalised and is said to be out of danger.
The duo met at a church in Kodigehalli two years ago and fell in love with each other. Both their parents had given consent for their marriage. Saidrav had moved to his sister’s house in Kodigehalli a month ago. It was his birthday on Saturday and he had invited Sunanda. He had also invited some of his friends to the house and started drinking with them, which upset Sunanda, the police said.
“There was a heated argument and Saidrav allegedly slapped Sunanda when she threw a liquor bottle. After a while, Saidrav went out with his friends, while his sister too went out to pick up her children from school. When his sister returned home around 5 pm, she found Sunanda hanging from the ceiling,” the police said.
