Telangana sanctions Rs 6,900 crore for Rythu scheme

From the current kharif season, farmers will get Rs 5,000 per acre per each crop.

Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has sanctioned Rs 6,900 crore for distribution to farmers as investment subsidy under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. Principal secretary, agriculture, C. Parthasarathi on Monday issued a Budg-et Release Orders to this effect.The government wanted to sanction the funds ahead of the monsoon season.

The state government had on Saturday passed an order to enhance the subsidy to Rs 5,000 from Rs 4,000 per acre per crop per season in line with a promise made by the TRS during the Assembly elections in December.

From the current kharif season, farmers will get Rs 5,000 per acre per each crop. By June 8, the election code of conduct will come to an end in the state and officials said that the dates for the distribution of the Rythu Bandhu monies will be announced soon.
