Bengaluru: Intensifying his image building exercise following the shock defeat of all Janata Dal (Secular) candidates except one in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has taken up a series of public relations (PR) activities, besides announcing his Gram Vastavya visits, scheduled to begin on June 21.
On Monday, Mr Kumaraswamy announced that his Gram Vastavya to 'reconnect' with the people at the grassroots, would begin from Gurumitkal in Kalaburagi district which is part of Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
Besides, he held a round of meetings with Deputy Chief Minister Dr G. Parameshwar and discussed the rain damage in Bengaluru city.
Earlier in the day, Mr Kumaraswamy gave an audience to Mayakka from Gokak in Belagavi district, who is physically challenged by birth and a mother of two. He sanctioned Rs 50,000 financial assistance to her and promised to help her in getting her children educated besides directing the Belagavi district administration to get Mayakka a BPL card. Meanwhile, Mr Kumaraswamy has invited all 37 Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs and MLCs to his JP Nagar residence on Tuesday evening for dinner.
During the last one year, his party colleagues had complained about lack of access to the Chief Minister and at Tuesday’s meeting, Mr Kumaraswamy is planning to reassure them that the government is stable and henceforth, governance would be smooth. Before he starts his Gram Vastavya programme, Mr Kumaraswamy is also planning to reach out to all MLAs of the coalition partner Congress.
