Respect women’s value, says Bharatanatyam artiste

She said that women who come to public life should have lot of qualities to be successful.

Thanjavur: The value of women as head of families and leader when they are in public service should be understood and respected by men, said Dr Krishna Chidambaram, Bharatnatyam dancer and freelance journalist, who is the daughter of S.A.P. Annamalai, founder editor of ‘Kumudam’, Tamil weekly here on Sunday.

Speaking at the 16th year celebrations of ‘Nakarathar Mahalir Sangam’ of Thanjavur, Chidambaram said, “Men (husbands) may consider them Prime Minister of the family. But it is the women (wives) who perform the duties of all ministers-finance, home, health, education, welfare, etc,” she said.

She said that women who come to public life should have lot of qualities to be successful.

Besides having leadership qualities, she should have the patience and compassion to take the team along with her. Like told in Bhagavad Gita she should work without expecting any benefits.

Alagammai Alagappan, took charge as the new president of the Sangam. Kaveri Veerappan took charge as its secretary, while Jayanthi Meenakshi Sundaram became the treasurer.
