Pak protests ‘harassment of guests at 2 functions’

Islamabad has also lodged a “strong protest” with the IHC and accus-ed India of harassing guests in New Delhi including “Kashmiri Muslims”.

New Delhi: No sooner did India on Sunday lodge a protest with Pakistan on harassment of guests of the Indian High Commission (IHC) at an Iftar event in Islamabad on June 1 than it has come to light that Pakistan has also accused India of violation of “traditional eastern values” and harassment of guests of the Pakistan High Commission at two functions in New Delhi on March 22 and May 28.

Islamabad has also lodged a “strong protest” with the IHC and accus-ed India of harassing guests in New Delhi including “Kashmiri Musl-ims”. The increased tension comes ahead of the visit of the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan, who are expected to attend the multilateral SCO Summit at Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan on June 13 and 14 and are also expected to at least exchange pleasantries wh-en they are face to face.

It may be recalled that on Sunday, the IHC in a press statement had slammed Pakistani security agencies in Islamabad for “unprecedented harassment and intimidation”, aggressively turning away Pakistani citizens who were guests of the Indian High Commiss-ion, using forklifts to tow away cars of guests.
