Hyderabad: Heavy rain before the monsoon lashed many parts of the city on Monday, leaving normal life, especially Id shopping for some dwellers, in disarray.

Rain brought several parts of the city to a virtual standstill with clogged roads to traffic snarls and affected the free movement of vehicles in many areas for more than two hours.

Hawkers at Madina Circle to Shahalibanda Road, Mallepally, Toli Chowki and other parts of the city were forced to remove their wares to safer places as strong winds started before the rain. Some traders said that the unexpected rain had dashed their hopes. Workers of the GHMC cleared water-logging in certain parts of the city.
