Expelled Abdullakutty sings hymns for Modi
Thiruvananthapuram: A. P. Abdullakutty, who has been thrown out of the Congress for his pro-Modi comments, has justified his stand and said Modi had implemented the ideas dear to Gandhiji. "I have taken a pro-development stand and stated the truth by hailing Narendra Modi's actions," he said immediately after KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran announced his expulsion from the party. "Mullapally has reacted emotionally," he said in Kannur and added that the ideology of the Congress party in Kerala had changed under the leaderships of Ramesh Chennithala, V. M. Sudheeran and Mullapally.
"Don't degrade Kerala by keeping a grudge against Modi and badmouthing him consistently. Mullapally and Sudheeran had turned Congress workers against me. I'm not power-hungry or an opportunist and my only aim is development," said Abdullakutty.
"Time will prove me right. A decade ago, the CPM threw me out when I spoke of development. See where they stand now. Comrade Pinarayi Vijayan now speaks of express highway and he is the biggest champion of GAIL pipeline. Gandhiji had told his followers to recall the face of the poorest when they devise a policy. Modi did exactly that through his Swachch Bharat and Ujjwal Yojana schemes," he said.
However, Abdullakutty did not say whether he would join the BJP. He could not think of such things now, he said. "I was the only sitting MLA who was asked to move out during the last Assembly polls. I was being gradually sidelined in the party. K. Sudhakaran had conspired to destroy me politically. I managed to hold on because of the love of the ordinary Congress workers and the people of Kannur," added Abdullakutty.
