Diwakar Reddy quits politics

Welcoming Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy as Chief Minister, Mr Diwakar Reddy recalled that he had never personally criticised the YSRC president.

Anantapur: Veteran leader and former MP of Anantapur J.C. Diwakar Reddy expressed his displeasure over state of affairs and announced that he would stay away from active politics.

Mr Diwakar Reddy, a senior politician, had secured Telugu Desam nominations during the recent elections for his son J.C. Pawan Reddy and his nephew Asmith Reddy, the son of his brother J.C. Prabhakar Reddy. While Mr Pawan Reddy contested from the the Anatnapur Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Ashmit Reddy was fielded from the Tadipathri Assembly segment. Both of them lost to YSRC candidates.

Welcoming Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy as Chief Minister, Mr Diwakar Reddy recalled that he had never personally criticised the YSRC president.

“I pointed out lapses politically,” he said and opined that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy should be given at least six months to prove his efficiency.

Mr Diwakar Reddy said he would not quit the Telugu Desam, amid reports that he was considering joining the BJP. He said he wanted reforms in the political system that had become connected with money instead of service.

“I have been speaking with top-level officials and leaders about the need to bring reforms in the electoral system,” he said.
