Muslim scholars urge youth to maintain discipline on roads

Maulana Hafeez Rizwan Qureshi said Prophet Mohammed had stressed that people should not cause inconvenience to any human being.

Hyderabad: Religious scholars and elders in the Muslim community have asked youth to adhere to the teaching of Prophet Mohammed and observe the month of Ramzan sincerely. The messages come at a time when some youngsters are drawing criticism for their unruly behavior on the streets.

Maulana Hafeez Rizwan Qureshi, khateeb of Mecca Masjid, said that some youngsters were getting the month of Ramzan wrong. “It is not about waking up all night and loitering around on roads, causing inconvenience to the public. Prophet Mohammed has stressed that people should not cause inconvenience to any human being and instead, asked the community to take up constructive work and spend more time in prayer,” he said.

Telangana State Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem said parents should keep a check on the activities of their children. “So many youngsters are seen on the roads triple-riding and creating nuisance. Such behavior brings a bad name to the parents too,” he said.

Former chairman, Telangana State Minorities Commission, Abid Rasool Khan, said there was no place for unruly behaviour in Islam. “It is highly condemnable that such things are happening. The authorities should initiate action against such persons as per law. Religious scholars and heads of religious bodies should and issue an advisory against such social evils,” Mr Khan said.
