All six Rajya Sabha candidates from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh elected unanimously
Hyderabad: All the six candidates who filed papers for the Rajya Sabha seats in TS and AP were on Friday declared elected after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations ended. Union Railway minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu (BJP), Union minister of state for science and technology Sujana Chowdary and T.G. Venkatesh (TD) were present at the office of the Returning Officer and AP Legislature Secretary K. Satyanarayana Rao on Friday evening and received the certificate of election.
V. Sunanda Reddy, who filed her papers as the dummy candidate from the YSR Congress withdrew her nomination on Thursday and her husband V. Vijay Sai Reddy was also declared elected to the Rajya Sabha from AP quota. However Mr Reddy was not present to receive the certificate; he will collect it later. Meanwhile, Returning Officer and TS Legislature Secretary Dr S. Raja Sadaram, at the stroke of 3 pm on Friday, declared D. Srinivas and Capt V. Laxmikanatha Rao (TRS) elected to the two Rajya Sabha seats from TS quota. He also handed over the certificate of election to the candidates.
