KOZHIKODE: A 22-year-old Odisha native and her 3-year-old daughter were found dead with burn injuries in their rented house on Thursday around 9 pm. The police has taken the second husband of the woman into custody for questioning Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Roopali and her daughter Aradhya, who were residing at Mankavu Puthanmalika house. Roopali had eloped with her second husband Anil Bikari Das from her native place earlier and settled in Kozhi-kode few months back. Aradhya was the child from her first husband.
Anil Bikari in his statement said that he saw the dead bodies of his wife and the child when he returned from work.
But later during the interrogation, he kept changing his statement and hence the police arrested him.
The body of the mother was found close to her daughter. Both had suffered over 80 per cent burns, the police said. It was after the local people here infor-med the Kasaba police station that the officials rushed to the spot and conducted the detailed enquiry.
The station officials said that no clues of an attack inside the house has been found as the house except the place where the bodies were found was seen intact.
Kasaba Police after contacting the police station at Odisha had taken the details of Roopali and her family and informed about the incident.
