Chennai: Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan has supported the DMK's move to initiate no-confidence motion against Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal for sending notices to three AIADMK MLAs.

Recently, Dhanapal sent notices to AIADMK legislators E. Rathinasabapathy, V.T. Kalaiselvan and V.T. Prabhu, on grounds that they were supporting AMMK general secretary, TTV Dhinakaran. The action kicked up a furore in the political scenario.

Opposing the move, DMK president, M.K .Stalin, decided to challenge the notices and moved the Supreme Court against Dhanapal. In the plea, the DMK had stated that since the no-confidence motion has been brought, Dhanapal should not take any action now. The apex court will take up the case for hearing on Monday. MLAs Rathinasabapathy and Kalaiselvan also have approached the court to prevent any action being taken by Dhanapal.
