Telangana: New property registration system soon
Hyderabad: A new property registration system will be implemented on a pilot basis from May 7 onwards.
Mandal revenue officers (MROs) will be given the authority to register properties, and the facility will be made available at all mandal headquarters. Until now, property registration has been handled solely by sub-registrars. As there are only 141 sub-registrars and 584 mandals in the state, each sub-registrar had to manage several mandals.
The immense workload would result in delays in the registration process, making it more difficult for property buyers and sellers, and encouraging corruption. The staff would often demand bribes to ensure that priority was given to a certain file.
To put an end to these practices, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to give MROs the authority to register properties. The initiative will be launched in five mandals on May 7 and extended to 30 mandals on May 19.
It will eventually be implemented in all mandals of the state after the results of the pilot project are examined and loopholes in the system are fixed.
The Revenue Department has conducted training sessions for all the MROs of the state to prepare them for their new duties.
