Lokayukta under threat, this time from Sonia Rani
Bengaluru: Nearly two months after a knife attack on Lokayukta Justice P. Vishwanath Shetty at his office, alert security officials at his office on Thursday nabbed a 58-year-old woman for carrying a knife in her bag.
Police said she entered the office around 12:30 pm and had hidden a kitchen knife in her bag along with files. She was caught during the security check at the entrance.
The Vidhana Soudha police later took her for questioning. She has been identified as Sonu alias Sonia Rani and claims she is the wife of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi!
A senior official said that she has been providing contradictory and bizarre statements and they have sent her for medical examination to check whether she is mentally stable.
It may be recalled that on March 7 this year the Lokayukta was repeatedly stabbed inside his office by the one Tejraj Sharma, who had smuggled in a knife.
Barely a week ago Mr Shetty rejoined duty after recovering from the attack.
