Kummanam Rajasekharan flays government for persecution'

Addressing the programme, Jyolsna said it was not the BJP which first started the agitation.

Kozhikode: BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan on Thursday came down heavily on the state government for its ‘inaction’ over the CPM’s ‘ostracism’ and ‘persecution’ of the family Jyolsna Siby whose four-month old pregnancy was aborted following injuries suffered at the hands of local CPM activists. Addressing a protest meeting organised by the BJP at Thamarassery near here Mr Rajasekharan said that the attitude of the government has proved that it’s not at all giving any importance to human life. Such attempts to silence the oppressed will not be allowed by the BJP, he added.

Addressing the programme, Jyolsna said it was not the BJP which first started the agitation. BJP only extended support to us when we were isolated and tortured by the CPM, she added. BJP also started a campaign rally in the district to mobilise public opinion against the ‘CPM atrocities’ which was led by Sobha Surendran.

It is to be recalled that the woman was attacked by neighbours Prajeesh Gopalan, his mother Sarasu and the local CPM leaders over a land dispute on January 28. Later police had arrested Kodenchery Kallathramed CPM branch secretary Thampi Thettalil and five others in connection with the attack.
