Bengaluru: Women caught carrying knife at Ayukta's office
Bengaluru: A 58-year-old woman was caught carrying a knife inside her bag at the Lokayukta office on Thursday afternoon. She was later detained by the Vidhana Soudha police and they are investigating the case.
It may be recalled that on March 7, this year Lokayukta Justice P Vishwanath Shetty, 74, was repeatedly stabbed inside his office by the one Tejraj Sharma, who had smuggled in a knife into the office.
Barely a week ago Mr Shetty had reported for work after recovering from the attack.
The suspect has been identified as Sonu alias Sonia Rani. According to the police, she had entered the office around 12:30 pm and had hidden a kitchen knife inside her bag along with the files.
She was caught during the security check at the entrance of the office. The security officials immediately detained her and alerted the police.
She reportedly told the police that she was Sonia Rani, wife of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
She had approached the Lokayukta office alleging that some of the Mysuru Maharaja’s properties belonged to her and she wanted it back. She had reportedly made several complaints to Lokayukta.
A senior official said that she has been providing contradictory statements when questioned about her visit to the Lokayukta office and the presence of a knife in her bag.
The police have sent her for the medical examination to check whether she is mentally stable.
The Vidhana Soudha police have registered a case.
