Telangana: After 3 surgeries, boy sent to Nims hospital
Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at St. Theresa Hospital, Erragadda, when the parents of a patient alleged that the hospital authorities were not giving proper treatment to their son.
“The patient, D. Satish, was admitted to the hospital three months ago after he developed a severe stomach ache. He was diagnosed with stomach cramps and treatment was started. When his condition did not improve, the family alleged that the hospital authorities have taken away their hard-earned money,” said inspector of police, S.R. Nagar.
He added, “The family informed the Telangana Students’ Federation about the issue and they staged a dharna in front of the hospital demanding refund of the money. We have booked a case against the hospital under Section 338 (causing grievous hurt by endangering life of a person).”
According to sources, Satish was being treated by Dr Rama Rao. He went under the knife three times in three months and the treatment costed Rs 6 lakh. The last operation costed Rs 1,40,000. The family paid Rs 48,000 in advance but when Satish showed no signs of improvement, his family moved him to Nims hospital.
St. Theresa hospital authorities say everything is on record and there was no question of charging extra. The family has created a scene because the treatment was taking time, they said.
