MIG housing projects coming up
Hyderabad: The Telangana government is all set to take up affordable housing projects for middle income groups in the districts.
The projects were stalled in undivided AP since 2008 following recession in the realty sector. Initially, 13 projects will be taken up in selected districts.
The decision was taken during a review meeting conducted by Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy at the Secretariat on Wednesday. The minister asked officials to issue the notification in this regard seeking applications from people.
“These new projects will be taken up at a cost of '1,066 crore. We will soon issue a survey notification to assess the demand for the houses. The projects were earlier, taken up without assessing demand due to which several MIG flats are lying vacant,” Mr Reddy said.
He added that 200 MIG flats in Kukatpally are lying vacant for which a notification will be issued soon seeking applications from buyers. Mr Reddy said several joint venture housing projects that were to begin in 2004 either remain incomplete or are yet to take off. A last chance will be given to the promoters to complete the projects..
