CHENNAI: Those travelling to Paris, the city of romance, from this southern metropolis don’t have to worry about multiple transit points. Come October, Jet Airways will launch a direct flight connecting Chennai and Paris with fares beginning at Rs 33,999.
The airlines also announced the launch of a direct flight between Bengaluru and Amsterdam. Till now, those travelling to Paris had to change flights either in one of the Gulf countries or somewhere in Europe.
“The corporate segment of Chennai is very strong which boosts the need for global travel and logistics. Also, it houses many young professionals, which means there is a growth in leisure travel. Moreover, the market had constantly been growing,” Gaurang Shetty, Director of Jet Airways, said at a press conference here on Wednesday.
The fares would start from Rs 33,999 for economy travel and Rs 1,29,999 for business class. In addition, the airline introduced JetEscapes Holidays, prices starting from Rs 71,310 per person and this would include travel, sightseeing, travel insurance, accommodation and breakfast.
The first flight 9W 128 will start from Chennai on October 29 at 1:45 and arrive in Paris by 8:35 (local time), while 9W 236 will depart from Bengaluru on October 29 at 2:25, reaching Amsterdam by 8:35,” elaborated Gaurang.
It is learnt that the flights will facilitate export and import of flowers, garments, electrical and medical equipment, auto parts and food items.
