Haryana governor to unveil Nava Oli Jyotirdinam

Ministers from Lanka will also attend 18th anniversary of demise of Sri Karunakara Guru.

Thiruvananthapuram: Haryana governor K.S. Solanki will inaugurate Nava Oli Jyotirdinam, the 18th anniversary of the demise of Sri Karunakara Guru, the founder Guru of Santhigiri Ashram, on Saturday.

Ministers from Sri Lanka, including Petroleum Additional Minister Anoma Gamage, Primary Industries Minister Dayadharma Pala Gamage and Public Administration Minister Ranjit Madduma Bhandare, Representative of Parliament and western provincial opposition leader, Chandra Kithsiri Kashatapitiya, and Katharagama monastery chief trustee Don Piyatissa Kumarage would be guests of honour.

Ashram organising secretary Swami Gururatnam Jnana Tapaswi will welcome the guests and C. Divakaran, MLA, will preside. Celebrations will kick off with floral tributes by monks and lay disciples at the parnasala at 5 am.

This will be followed by flag-hoisting and offerings at the feet of Guru. In the evening, thousands of devotees will take out a lamp procession around the ashram, followed by special ‘pushpanjali’ at 9.45 pm. Thereafter, ashram cultural division will present musical and cultural programmes.
