Bengaluru: Chargesheet filed in shootout case
BENGALURU: Soladevanahalli police have filed a chargesheet against Rajesh and his father Gopalakrishna in the Amith Keshavamurthy shootout near Acharya College on January 13.
In the 300-page chargesheet the police had stated that Rajesh, a realtor, fatally shot Amith near Acharya College for having an affair with his wife Shruthi Gowda, a Panchayat Development Officer in Nelamangala. Shruthi was also present when the incident happened.
The chargesheet also named Rajesh's father Gopalakrishna (78) for assisting him in the crime. After the shooting Shruthi rushed her paramour to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. Later, Shruthi committed suicide at a nearby lodge.
Amith and Shruthi were distant relatives and when both the families came to know about their affair, they had warned them to stay away. However, they continued with their affair.
"Rajesh who was suspicious of secret meetings between his wife and Amith, had installed a GPS tracker in Shruthi's car. On January 13, Shruthi went to office as usual. During the lunch hour, Rajesh contacted her over phone and asked where she was, and she had replied she was in a meeting. But Rajesh found out that her car was near Acharya college. He went to the spot, only to find her and Amith sitting in the car. Following a heated argument, Rajesh shot Amith in the chest. The accused then went to the Soladevanahalli police and surrendered," the police said.
