Varanasi-bound flight makes emergency landing at Shamshadabad airport

Hyderabad: A Varanasi-bound IndiGo flight made an emergency landing at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad airport on Tuesday, due to a technical problem. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has confirmed that IndiGo Flight 6E897 had taken off from Bengaluru for Varanasi but made an emergency landing after diverting to Shamshadabad airport. The DGCA has ordered an inquiry into the incident, said a senior official.

Pilot noticed the technical glitch in the flight which was taken off from Bengaluru at 5:07 am and was scheduled to land at Varanasi at 7.50.

The flight carried 137 passengers on board and everyone is safe, according to sources at the Shamshabad airport. The officials had a tense moment till the flight landed safely.

The aircraft is undergoing inspections at the Shamshabad airport.
