Man held for siphoning off Rs 5.6 lakh after promising jobs in Australia

Kochi: Kothamangalam Police on Wednesday arrested a 38-year old person on charge of duping job aspirants of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs in countries like Australia, New Zealand and Norway.

The arrested was identified as Rajesh, 38, of Manthuruthy in Malampuzha village. According to police, he cheated around Rs 5.60 lakh by promising them job visas through his two firms at Palakkad town and Kothamangalam.

Cops nabbed the accused after months long investigation. According to police, he stands accused in Abkari and cheating cases registered in many police stations across the state. Police also suspect the involvement of more people behind the cheating.

So far, police had received 36 petitions and are ex-pecting more in the coming days. Shajimon Joseph, DySP, Muvattupuzha had ordered an inquiry based on the petitions.

A team led by Inspector J.D. Sunilkumar, sub inspector Ranjan Kumar and assistant sub inspector Shaji Kuriakose made the arrest.
