JD(U) replaces Sitamarhi candidate

Sunil Kumar Pintu on Wednesday resigned from the BJP and joined JD(U) to contest Lok Sabha elections.

Patna: Not just Mahagathbandhan but the trouble is also brewing in JD(U) led NDA in Bihar.

On Wednesday, JD(U) dropped its Sitamarhi nominee Dr Varun Kumar and gave ticket BJP MLA Sunil Kumar Pintu. Sources said Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar was upset after party’s assessment report of Sitamarhi Constituency showed Dr Varun’s inability in generating public support.

Sunil Kumar Pintu on Wednesday resigned from the BJP and joined JD(U) to contest Lok Sabha elections. He was the BJP MLA for three terms between 2003 and 2010 but was defeated in 2015 assembly elections.

Bihar Minister and JD(U) nominee from Munger Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh who was also present during the event said that “Sunil Kumar Pintu is NDA’s nominee and all of us are confident that we are going to win this election”.

Asked why he left the BJP, Sunil Kumar Pintu said that he resigned due to personal reasons.
