India's best university is Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru
Bengaluru: For the second consecutive year, the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc) of the city has been adjudged the best institute in the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) results, which were released by the Union MHRD Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday.
IISc has secured the No 1 spot in two categories. Under the overall category, it has secured a score of 83.28. IIT, Madras which is adjudged as the second best has secured just 73.97 points.“This gap shows where IISc stands among our elite institutes,” said an officer from MHRD.
IISc has bagged No. 1 ranking under the best universities category too with 83.28 points. But JNU, New Delhi is far behind at the second spot, with 61.52 points. MHRD sources said that because there was no representation in some of the domains, like Architecture, Law, Medical etc., no rankings were announced this year.The parameters for ranking included teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach, inclusivity and perception.
