Another milestone crossed: Bishop Heber college head

The HRD ministry in its national ranking, has given fourth place to Bishop Heber College, which simultaneously takes the second place in Tamil Nadu.

Tiruchy: The Union HRD ministry’s ranking released on Monday placing Bishop Heber College of Tiruchirappalli in the fourth place in academic excellence and research, has added yet another feather to the cap of this historic college in central Tamil Nadu.

The ranking constitutes another milestone crossed by the college, its principal, Dr Paul Dhayabaran, and other faculty including Dr Umesh, College International Quality Assurance cell and Prof. Godwin Premsingh, dean International relations, said.

They told DC that the college had undergone ‘a regressive feedback analysis’ given by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) on four important criteria viz., teaching /learning output, research /patent output, progression to higher studies and perception of alumni, parents, students and public on curriculum and infrastructure facilities.

The HRD ministry in its national ranking, has given fourth place to Bishop Heber College, which simultaneously takes the second place in Tamil Nadu and bagged the first place among all colleges in Tiruchirappalli Region.

“While celebrating its 50th year of work, the NIRF rank is God’s gift to the institution and to the academic excellence made by the management, faculty members, student community, alumni and the public at large, “ they said.

NIT-T Retains top spot

The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, (NIT-T) has retained its first position and has been ranked as the top National Institute of Technology among the 31 NITs’ in India in the ‘NIRF 2017 Ranking (Engineering)’ released by the HRD minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday.

A NIT-T release said here on Monday that the NIT-T is at an overall rank 11 in 2017, improving the last year’s rank by one slot this year.

The NIT-T director, Prof. Mini Shaji Thomas congratulated each and every member of the NIT-T family, including faculty, Staff, and students who worked hard in achieving this feat.
