Telangana: 765kV Wardha to Nizamabad line ready, says Power Grid Corporation

Executive director of the Corporation V. Sekhar said that the system will facilitate import of power from Western region.

Hyderabad: Power Grid Corporation on Monday said that it has commissioned the 765 kV Wardha- Nizamabad line along with 765/400 kV Nizamabad substation well ahead of schedule.

Executive director of the Corporation V. Sekhar said that the system will facilitate import of power from Western region, mainly Chhattisgarh, for which long-term access has been granted to TS. Mr Sekhar said that the project was fast-tracked and completed in a record time and the commitment given to the state by the Corporation fulfilled.

He said the Corporation has completed another major interregional link by commissioning the corridor of 765 kV Angul – Srikakulam- Vemagiri line facilitating the import of Eastern Region power into Southern region in January 2017.

Mr Sekhar said with the commissioning of these two links, an interregional power transfer capacity of 9,000 MW was made available to the entire Southern Region. Apart from this, a 400 / 220 kV substation to lift power from Solar Park at N.P. Kunta was commissioned in a record period of seven months from handing over of land. He said that this has greatly boosted the renewable energy integration into the grid.
