Father, son drown in well in Nalgonda
Police said Basha, who owns a kirana store, and his son had gone out of their home in the morning.
Hyderabad: A man and his six-year-old son drowned in an agricultural well in Bethavolu, Chilkur mandal in Nalgonda district, on Sunday. Sheikh Jani Basha, 30, jumped into the well to rescue his son Sheikh Asif who accidentally fell into the water. Their bodies were fished out by the locals.
Police said Basha, who owns a kirana store, and his son had gone out of their home in the morning. His relatives alerted locals after they went missing. It was while searching for them that the bodies were found.
“They went to relieve themselves at a lake near their house. As the lake had dried up, locals had dug up a well in the middle to draw water for farming. The child slipped into the well while walking,” said a police officer from Nalgonda.
