Hyderabad: Staff detained illegally, says IT Grids

The company is under probe for misuse of confidential data belonging to voters in AP.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Sunday directed the principal secretary, home, the Director General of Police and the Cyberabad police to produce five employees of IT Grids India Pvt Ltd, who were allegedly picked up on March 2.

The bench comprising Justice Raghvendra S. Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akhtar was dealing with a habeas corpus petition moved as a house motion on the missing IT employees.

The company is under probe for alleged misuse of confidential data belonging to voters in AP to benefit the Telugu Desam.

IT Grids director D. Ashok filed a habeas corpus petition on Sunday alleging that the police had illegally detained his office associates Regonda Bhaskar, Phani Koduluri, Gurudu Chandra Sekhar and Vikram Goud Rebbala on March 2.

The petitioner alleged that the four employees were illegally detained between 7 am and 5.30 pm on March 2, and since then their whereabouts had not been communicated either to him or their family members.

Making principal secretary, home, the Director General of Police and the Cyberabad police respondents, Mr Ashok alleged in the petition that the persons who had detained the employees had claimed to be policemen but had failed to reveal their identity.

Considering the petition, the court has directed the respondents to produce the employees before the court by 10.30 am on Monday and to produce the case diary.

Asked about the notice, a Cyberabad police officer said on Sunday said that they had not detained anybody illegally. The police had only issued notice to them to appear for questioning, the officer said.
