Response lukewarm to model market revisited tenders
Hyderabad: Despite revising the leasing prices for model markets, only two people responded to tenders for two shops in the Serilingampally Circle of GHMC. Sealed tenders were called for allotting shops in two model markets – one at MIG BHEL and the other at Gopanpally TNGO’s colony in the GHMC West Zone.
Each market was constructed at a cost of Rs 20.33 crore with a total 29 shops. Each market had seven shops on the ground floor. The markets had parking, toilets and other facilities.
Initially, they were valued at a very high rate and evidently had no takers. GHMC revisited its plan and revised the market rates based on each locality and invited tenders in the West Zone. Only two people, each one in MIG BHEL and TNGO’s colony responded, that too for shops reserved in the SC category.
Two shops were allocated to SC beneficiaries while one shop was allocated to an ST beneficiary in each market.
