Hello English' to boost confidence of students: Finance minister Thomas Isaac

Alappuzha: Finance minister and local legislator T.M. Thomas Isaac inaugurated ‘Hello English’ project, a learning enhancement programme by the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) at Preethikulangara Government LP School, Mararikulam, on Saturday. The minister said the project would be instrumental in creating confidence in learning the English language among public school kids. "The government has decided to expand this successful project to all primary schools," he said. "It includes competitions, skits and games."

Many students showcased their skill before the minister. Around 18,000 teachers have undergone training to instruct the language more efficiently. Students are encouraged to read non-textbook stories and others in English and write in class newspapers, diaries, and so on. English reading corners are set up in classrooms. The module was designed after a three-month study, involving tryouts in twenty different schools and interactions with learners, parents, and teachers.
