Around 5,000 people to take part in safety run

It is more of a public run than a police department taking part in the run, Swati Lakra said.

HYDERABAD: The City SHE Teams would be hosting ‘Safety run’ on the eve of Women’s day to promote awareness on the importance of safety for women at public place.

Swati Lakra, additional commissioner of police for crimes, said that they have registered around 5,000 people who would be taking part in the run. “All men, women and students have registered under three categories -10 kilometres run, 5 kilometres run and two kilometres run. All the registrations are being conducted online,” the ACP said.

When asked about the number of men from the police department who would take part in the run, Swati Lakra said that apart from the crowd, all the senior police officers from the police department like commissioner of police for Hyderabad V.V. Srinivas Rao and director general of police M. Mahender Reddy would take part in the run. “It is more of a public run than a police department taking part in the run,” Swati Lakra said.

The special attraction in the run would be the robot Mithra who welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Advisor to US President Ivanka Trump at the GES summit. It would also be taking part in the 10 kilometres run.

“We are also expecting P.V. Sindhu and Vijay Devarkonda to join us for the run ” Swati Lakra said.
