All of them, including Bijimol, had appeared before the investigative officer.

KOCHI: There is no need to arrest E.S. Bijimol MLA in the case of alleged assault on additional district magistrate at a private estate at Thekkemoola near Peruvanthanam, the state submitted before the High Court on Thursday.

The investigation is almost over, according to M. Johnson Joseph, Crime Branch DySP. A total of 52 persons were identified as accused and notices were served to 43 of them. All of them, including Bijimol, had appeared before the investigative officer.

She was questioned and her statement was recorded, the court was told. Earlier, the court had criticized the agency for the delay in arresting the accused.

The accused were not arrested since the agency could collect no other evidence from them than they had unlawfully assembled with an intention to protest against the erection of a dismantled gate at Thekkemala, Mr. Joseph said.
