T-Works new deadline June

The centre which was supposed to be up and running by April is still under construction.

Hyderabad: T-Works, said to be India’s largest prototyping centre for electronics, electro-mechanical and mechanical start-ups when it is completed, will be operational by June. The centre which was supposed to be up and running by April is still under construction.

According to an official, even if the facility is constructed by April, it would take at least two months to set up equipment and infrastructure for users.

GE First Build which was supposed to set up its workshop in January could not do so as the construction had not been completed. It will start functioning towards the end of March.

Consequently, even the agreements with companies have been moving slowly.

According to an official, the agreements are being studied by various companies and will have a concrete outcome close to the launch. Phase 1 of T-Works spread across an area of 78,000 sq ft is at Raidurgam and is expected to accommodate 500 people. The building is being constructed at a cost of '40 crore while Rs 20 crore is being invested in equipment and infrastructure developmentrore. On the other hand, Phase 2 of T-Works is expected to be completed two years after Phase1 becomes operational.

T-Works aspires to make hardware prototyping faster, cheaper, simpler. In the meantime, it has called for applications for fellowships for candidates to join their team for a 12-month paid fellowship programme. Applicants are expected to design and execute programs and projects that will foster a culture of makers and innovators. The deadline for applications is February 15.

TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao presented the poster of the movie Mallesham on Sunday, a story based on rural innovator Chintakindi Mallesham, who hails from a handloom weaver’s family in Pochampally.

The minister earlier said that Mallesham’s services would be used to mentor the next generation of innovators using institutions like T-Works.
