BJP will stake claim if Congress dumps JD(S): DV Sadananda Gowda

People had voted to make the BJP the single largest party and it should have formed government but the BJP is sitting in the opposition.

Bengaluru: Hinting that Operation Lotus was still on the agenda of the BJP, Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda said that the party will, however, intervene only if Congress legislators back out from supporting the JD(S)-Congress coalition government.

Speaking to reporters after a poll preparatory meeting of Bengaluru North LS constituency which he represents, Mr Gowda said that the BJP cannot be held responsible for any such development.

People had voted to make the BJP the single largest party and it should have formed government but the BJP is sitting in the opposition. Now, Congress legislators do not want to support this government. In such circumstances, it becomes the duty of the BJP to take the responsibility of running the government, he said. Asked if Mr Kumaraswamy would present the budget, he said this too depends on Congress MLAs. Taking a dig at Mr Kumaraswamy for taking credit for the arrest of underworld don Ravi Poojari, he said the government should first trace its own MLAs as it had no information on 'missing' Congress MLAs.
