Bengaluru: Adugodi is one of the thickly populated areas in the city and being a major crossing between Koramangala and Brigade Road it remains busy round the clock.
However this ward fares poorly in terms of cleanliness and civic amenities. The roads are in bad shape and footpaths have turned into open air urinals and dumping ground for construction debris.
Commenting on the slow pace of the construction of a divider on the road, Alok Sharma a local resident said, “Iron bars pop out of the road. The white topping being done in Koramangala has affected traffic flow and this road is dangerous to use.”
“I have often seen commuters parking their vehicles on the footpaths and relieving themselves. Civic agencies have done nothing to curb this. The roads in this area are full of potholes. Does the government exist only for the rich?” he observed.
With heavy traffic volumes during the peak hours, the area is also accident prone.
“You will see the bikes on the footpath or construction debris. How could one walk? Moreover, the fast moving cars pose a threat not only to pedestrians, but they also dash on to the divider or footpath. There should be pelican signals everywhere,” said Ananda Ramamurthy, a local resident.
“The moment one moves close to Adugodi junction, civic woes welcome you. The government must pull the Palike for its apathy. Where are the cameras? The violators should be heavily fined,” he added.
The residents also complain that some stretches are poorly lit and the garbage stench is prevalent all through the road.
