Dr T K Narayanan appointed Kerala Kalamandalam vice-chancellor

The appointment is for a five-year period or till he attains the age of 70, whichever is earlier.

Thiruvananthapuram: Governor P. Sathasivam has appointed Dr T.K. Narayanan as Vice-Chancellor of the Kerala Kalamandalam, a deemed university for Art and Culture. The appointment is for a five-year period or till he attains the age of 70, whichever is earlier. Narayanan is a former professor of Sanskrit, University of Calicut, and had also served as member of the syndicate and Academic council in Calicut University Other posts held by him include Registrar-in-Charge and Director, Academic Staff College, University of Calicut.

He was also Dean of Indian Logic at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. The Governor selected Mr Narayanan to the post from a three-member panel given by the search committee headed by culture secretary Rani George for the post of vice-chancellor of Kerala Kalamandalam following widespread complaints. Apart from Dr Narayanan, the panel had included Calicut University former registrar Dr P.P. Raveendran, faculty in the School of Letters in MG University, and Dr Geetha, a former government college principal.
