Telangana: After heart attack driver takes bus to depot, dies
Hyderabad: A 42-year-old RTC driver suffered a heart attack while driving and died at the wheel in Mahbubnagar on Friday. M. Madhusudan Reddy, who suffered a heart attack around 200 yards from the bus station, drove passengers safely to the bus station, and after parking collapsed in his seat. Madhusudan Reddy, who hailed from Pebberu, was working as a driver at the Mahbubnagar depot. On Thursday he went on a trip for Narwa from Mahbubnagar. When the bus was around 200 meters away from Narwa bus station he developed pain.
“He said that he was having some pain but drove till he reached the bus station. After stopping the vehicle he bent down. We thought he was checking some fault, but when we went he was unconscious,” another driver who was in the vehicle said. He was rushed to a nearby health centre where doctors declared him dead. Depot manager G. Rajagopal said if Madhusudan had not been careful he would have lost control of the bus. “Any mistake could have put the passengers at risk. But he risked himself to save the passengers,” he said.
Doctors said that Madhusudan could have suffered a mild heart attack initially, but when he continued driving, it became massive and could have led to death. “If a person suffers even a mild heart attack he should stop physical activity immediately. Driving a bus involves a lot of strain which exerts pressure on the heart,” a doctor said. Madhusudan Reddy is survived by his wife and two children.
