TTD mops up Rs 1,161.74crore in hundi in 2019
TIRUPATI: Lord Venkateswara has received cash of Rs 1,161.74 crore through the Hundi at Tirumala in 2019, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal announced on Friday.
Addressing media persons at the Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala, Singhal said the amount received has increased by 8.9 per cent compared to 2018 when the cash offered in Hundi was Rs 1,066.48 crore.
The EO released a comparative statement on different activities of TTD for years 2018 and 2019. According to it, 2,78,90,179 pilgrims had darshan of Lord Venkateswara in 2019, as against 2,68,02,047 in 2018. The temple served Annaprasadam to 6,45,73,250 pilgrims in 2019, compared to 6,08,76,434 during the previous year. As many as 1,16,61,625 people has got their heads tonsured in 2019 as against 1,12,99,055 in 2018. The occupancy ratio in 2019 was 106 percent with revenue of Rs 83.71 crore generated through accommodation. It was 99 per cent amounting to `78.68 crore in 2018.
Singhal announced that TTD is gearing up to conduct Vaikunta Ekadasi on January 6 and Dwadasi on January 7 in a grand manner. All privilege darshans and Arjitha sevas have been cancelled from January 5 to 7.
