Bengaluru: Pillion rider dies in accident in Ulsoor

Police said Santosh is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital and is said to be out of danger.

Bengaluru: A 24-year-old pillion rider died on spot while the rider sustained injuries after a speeding KSRTC bus knocked down their bike in Ulsoor traffic police station limits on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sharath, a resident of Ulsoor and a painter by profession. His friend, Santosh, 25, is also a resident of Ulsoor and a private company employee. Police said Santosh is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital and is said to be out of danger.

According to the police, the two had gone for a joy ride and when they were heading towards Indiranagar 100 Feet Road around 12:30 am, a speeding KSRTC bus knocked them down from behind.

The passerby immediately rushed them to the nearby hospital where Sharath was declared brought dead. The Ulsoor traffic police rushed to the spot, seized the vehicle and arrested the bus driver.

Car collides with tractor
In another incident, a 65-year-old man died on the spot while two others were severely injured after a car and a tractor collided head on in Nandagudi in Bengaluru Rural on Wednesday late night.

The deceased has been identified as Nanjundappa, a resident of Jayanagar in Kolar. He was travelling in his car along with his wife Narayanamma and daughter in law Sheela. The police said that both of them are severely injured and are currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

According to the police, the incident took place while the three were on their way to their relative’s house to attend a ceremony.

Police said that Nanjundappa was allegedly speeding and collided with a tractor, laden with grass, on Chintamani national highway. The tractor driver sustained minor injuries. Nandagudi police have registered a case and begun investigation.
