Hyderabad: Tankers too reached Nims Hospital late

Hyderabad: Eight elective operations had to be postponed in Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) owing to water shortage.

Doctors were seen moving patients from one theatre to another, which left attendants anxious.

Three patients were shifted from one operation theatre to another on January 3. Postponed surgeries were scheduled after 11 am by which time water levels in the tanks had gone down to minimal.

Another senior doctor said, “The tankers were coming in but at 10 am, there was minimal water which led to the postponing of surgeries. The delay in tankers reaching the hospital was also reason for the postponement.”

Dr K. Manohar, incharge director, said, “There has been constant supply by water tankers and we made all adequate arrangements in advance. The water works department has promised that by evening all the pipeline works will be completed and water supply will be normalised.”
