Hyderabad: Minor held for stealing licenced gun
Hyderabad: Central Zone task force officials apprehended one minor and seized a licensed .22 revolver and six live rounds from him on Wednesday.
“On December 24, an SUV was parked by a reporter from a regional news channel near Masab Tank bus stop. “The boy was working as a waiter at a nearby function hall. That day he and his two friends were on their way to Necklace Road for a party when they ran out of petrol and stopped near Masab Tank. The boy started looking around the place to steal some money to pay for petrol. He stumbled upon the SUV which was unlocked, and walked away with the gun and bullets. Then, after consulting his friends, he concealed the weapon in his house,” said commissioner’s task force DCP P. Radha Kishan Rao.
On Wednesday, Task Force sleuths apprehended the boy and recovered the stolen property from him.
“The licence holder of the weapon will also be prosecuted for not following the rules of the Arms Act. He is also liable under Section 30 of the Arms Act,” the official said.
