A hero emerges from Mangaluru trash

Activist throws garbage dumped by shop on street back in its premises.

Mangaluru: Shopkeepers in Mangaluru, beware! A lump of trash coming at you! Not from across the sea but from Sowraj, a tempo driver, who has made it his mission to keep the city's streets clean. On Sunday night, a shopkeeper dared to do the unthinkable and the receipt and tags in the trash caught Sowraj's attention. He picked up the garbage, entered the shop and after confirming it was from the same place, dumped it inside. He gave the shop workers a tongue lashing and not stopping at that, videographed the entire episode which has now gone viral on social media and drawn accolades.

There are hundreds of people working in the 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' to achieve a 'Swacch Bharat' but people continue to throw garbage in public.
Now, Sowraj, a resident of Mangaluru has added a new dimension to the Swacch Abhiyan by collecting garbage from a public place and throwing it back inside the shop from where it originated!

Sowraj is closely associated with Swacch Abhiyan since the past few months. But social service is nothing new for him. A tempo driver by profession, Sowraj helps the needy and also participates in awareness programmes.

During the Swachchata Abhiyan conducted in Karangalpady area of Mangaluru on Sunday, Sowraj saw that some people had already thrown garbage in the place. He found the receipt and tags of a nearby shop. in the trash This was a hint on the place from where the garbage originated.

He collected the garbage, entered the shop and asked the employees inside if it belonged to the shop. When they agreed that the garbage was from the shop, he threw the garbage inside the shop.

The entire conversation was videographed by Sowraj. "How would you feel if someonethrew the garbage inside the shop like this," Sowraj asked the shop people and threw the garbage inside the shop.

"People come here and clean our city and people like you throw garbage again in the same place we have cleaned and placed flower pots. You are tax payers.

Why don't you give the garbage to garbage collectors? If they do not come you should complain it to the elected representatives. This is a warning to all. We will keep a tab on anybody who throws garbage in public places and we will throw them back like this," he says in the video.
