Hyderabad: About five lakh pending applications pertaining to Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS) announced by the state government in 2008 and 2015 are all set to be resolved soon.
The state government is also planning to give yet another opportunity for people to submit fresh applications for regularisation of government and assigned lands that are in possession of private individuals under LRS besides resolving pending applications of previous LRS schemes.
District collectors were also directed to submit reports to the government on the status of assigned lands in their respective districts, which would also be considered for regularisation.
It was found that lands over an extent of a few thousands of acres have changed hands over the years.
These reports will be submitted to the cabinet sub-committee headed by MAUD minister K.T. Rama Rao which is looking into regularisation issues.
Official sources said the committee which has already held four rounds of meetings so far is expected to submit report to the government by December-end. The government expects to earn good revenues through LRS and regularisation of assigned lands.
The previous Congress government in Undivided AP had issued GO 166 seeking applications for regularisation of government lands. In response, 1.44 lakh applications were received, of which 1.24 lakh were rejected. While 14,000 applications were regularised, about 6,000 were kept pending. After the formation of Telangana State in June 2014, the TRS government issued GO 58 and GO 59 in 2015 seeking applications for regularisation of lands under LRS.
While GO 58 was issued to regularise plots up to 125 sq. yards to the poor free of cost, GO 59 pertains to regularising the lands by collecting the basic value of the land depending upon the size of the plot area. The TS government earned Rs 383 crore through LRS fees in 2015. On September 21, the state government constituted a cabinet sub-committee headed by municipal administration minister K.T. Rama Rao to look into the issues pertaining to Unauthorised Layouts, Regularisation of Plots & House Sites, Gram Kantham lands etc.
Special chief secretary of MAUD department Arvind Kumar is the convenor of the subcommittee. The collectors were asked to submit reports to the convenor at the earliest.
The government had so far received 11.19 applications for regularization, of which, 6.18 lakh had been regularised.
