Vizag: Measures to control pollution discussed on National Pollution Control Day
Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board observed the National Pollution Control Day at Ramky Pharma city HubParawada on Saturday.
The National Pollution Control Day is celebrated every year on December 2 in India in order to give the honour and memorialise the thousands of humans who lost their existence because of the Bhopal gas calamity.
Bhopal gas tragedy took place in the intervening night of December 2 and 3 in the year 1984 because of the unintentional discharge of a poisonous chemical known as Methyl Isocyanate that was released from the Union Carbide Chemical Plant in the city. About 100 industrial representatives were present. Expert lectures on the Safety and Environment issues were addressed by experienced industrialists.
Dy Chief Inspector of factories, Visakhapatnam K.B.S. Prasad, APPCB Senior Environmental Engineer, P. Ravindranath and guests of honour, Dr P.P. Lal Krishna, Managing Director of Ramky Pharma City (India) Ltd addressed the gathering and suggested preventive measures to avoid accidents and control pollution.
