Mega job mela: 1,032 youth get recruited
Vijayawada: The valedictory of the Mega Job Fair Week, held under the aegis of Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Academy (APITA), was held in Vijayawada on Saturday. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT minister Lokesh participated in the programme. They felicitated the representatives of the IT companies who have participated in the job fair.
As many as 1,032 engineering students were inducted into jobs at the job fair. Mr Naidu said Andhra Pradesh should grow as an intellectual power. He appreciated the organisers for providing more than 1,000 jobs to the youth. The fair was held from 25th November to 1st December and was meant for those passing out in 2015, 2016, 2017 and the fresh batch of 2018.
Five colleges from Vijayawada city extended support to the job fair by providing space free of cost. Over 70 students, from the five colleges, voluntarily helped the IT representatives in conducting the fair. About 47 companies from the IT, ITES and IT support service functions participated in the job fair.
Major recruiters include Aegis Global, Big C, Cattain, Cloud Mellow, Dr. Reddy’s, Effitronics, Eureka Forbes, Hinduja Global Solutions Limited, ICICI, ITC Agri Business. The recruiters interviewed the students seeking jobs in automation, sales, marketing, customer relationship management, graphic designers and social media managers. As many as 7,729 students participated in the job fair and 10,652 interviews were conducted by the recruiters. Only 12.5 per cent of the total participants could get the jobs.
