Chennai: TTV Dhinakaran became the first candidate in ongoing RK Nagar by-election to face proceedings for violating the election model code of conduct as Tondiarpet police registered a case against him and his supporters on Saturday.

Election department officials filed complaints in Tondiarpet police station against the dissident AIADMK faction leader Dhinakaran and former MLAs Vetrivel, V P Kalairajan and others on Saturday.

The complaints alleged that Dhinakaran and his supporters had violated election model code of conduct by using more vehicles than permitted and gathering more supporters inside the office of returning officer.
