Vangaveeti film trailer off net
Hyderabad: The makers of the Telugu movie Vangaveeti on Friday gave an undertaking before the Hyderabad High Court that they will remove the objectionable scenes and a song in the trailer of the movie that appeared on social media.
Justice Raja Elango was hearing a petition by Vangaveeti Radha Krishna seeking to declare as illegal the action of the respondents, director Ramgopal Varma and producer Dasari Kiran Kumar, in showing the trailer of the film Vangaveeti on the internet.
C. Nageswara Rao, senior counsel appearing for the petitioner, told the court that the film is based on the life of the petitioner’s father, Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao.
He said the filmmakers have distorted facts and uploaded the trailer on the internet without certification from the CBFC as they are required to do under the provisions of the Cinematograph Act.
He said the lyrics of the song in the trailer are aimed at the Kamma and Kapu communities, which are predominant in coastal AP and would likely provoke enmity and affect public order in the state in general and Vijayawada in particular.
The judge sought to kn-ow whether the trailer had a certificate from the Cen-sor Board. Counsel for the respondents said the film had yet to be passed by the censor board.
The counsel appearing for the producer, said they are prepared to delete the objectionable scenes and the song from the social media.
